Dear Friend in Christ,
St. Theresa Nursery and Primary school in Nimo, Nigeria is Miles Jesu’s opportunity to revamp the ailing education system in Nigeria which is bedevilled by exam malpractice, especially in public schools. Lucia, directress of the Miles Jesu women’s community in Nimo, tells us, “Beginning with the population of one hundred and twenty-seven (127) pupils in our school, we join forces with other schools that share the same vision, to form self-reliant, confident, and positive contributors to society. Our school motto says it all: ‘The future starts today’. We want to reach the children when they are young so that they are equipped to make better and responsible choices for themselves as they grow into adults. To inculcate the right attitude toward academics, when the children take their exams we ensure they are properly spaced out and made to sit by pupils from different classes so they cannot cheat. This has produced a lot of positive fruits as our pupils go on to compete in external exams with students in other schools that are considered bigger and better, and come out at the top!”
“Last year, a parent came to thank us because his daughter went to sit for an entrance exam in a well-known secondary school and did so well, the proprietor wanted to know which primary school she graduated from! The child got the best scores and was particularly outstanding in her performance in Math! From all the feedback we’ve received thus far, many of our pupils have proved they benefit from the training they get while in St. Theresa’s. This gives us the courage to keep working, and the hope that one day soon we will be able to move the school to a better learning environment.”
Please help our Miles Jesu Missions today, such as our school in Nigeria. Your sacrifice of a monthly pledge or a one-time gift truly makes all the difference. In Miles Jesu we pray for our benefactors daily with gratitude because the Miles Jesu Missions depend upon God’s help through people like you.
