We Are Family

Dear Friend in Christ,

“Of the 15 girls in our Birky Girls’ Home here in Ukraine,” Olga, MJ, tells us, “four of them are boarding at college or university while working on their studies. Oksana, 18, is majoring in Sports’ Ed and is a star on the university soccer team. Her dream is to become a professional women’s soccer player on the international circuit.

“Natalya, 18, is studying Nursing at the college of medicine. Sofia, 16, is studying to be a Seamstress/Tailor. And Kristina, 17, is majoring in Business Administration.

“Though they have the freedom to remain on their own with the financial support of our Girls’ Home, all four of them come back to our house every weekend because they truly feel at home here. One of them expressed a fear that she would no longer have a family, and we assured her, ‘Don’t worry. You will not be alone. Every weekend you can come here because you truly are part of our family.’ The older girls found this welcome especially consoling because their mothers don’t care to keep in contact with them.” See the difference your help makes in the lives of these abandoned or orphaned girls!
