Dear Friend in Christ,
Zoriana, MJ, from the women’s community in Birky, Ukraine, tells us that one of the new projects they started for children is called Vacation with God. Even in the midst of the war, it is a week-long day camp which has proven to be very successful. This year’s camp was organized at the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Rite church in their village and they had 85 children participating with 25 teens and young adults helping with the event.
“One night during the time the camp was being held there was a thunderstorm. A fearful reaction among many of the children was anticipated because the sound of thunder is similar to the sound of a rocket or missile exploding somewhere in the distance. The mother of one of the girls told us that when she went to check on her daughter during the storm, she heard the girl singing, With Jesus in the ship, we are not afraid of the storm, because we are sailing together. This is a verse from one of the songs she had learned at the camp! Many parents thanked us very much for holding this week-long camp for their children.”
