Dear Friend in Christ,
“We have 14 girls ranging in age from six to 16 at our Girls Home in Birky, Ukraine,” reports Olga Semeruk, MJ. “Aleksandra, the newest and youngest one is having a lot of difficulties in getting along with the others, as she wants to be with her mother. Little Aleksandra’s mom lives in a single room and is so impoverished that she had no choice but to bring her daughter to our Birky Home. Aleksandra will be getting settled in, but then all hell breaks loose after she returns from a visit with her mom. She’s more fortunate than the others, though, because she has a mother who wants to be with her.
“Most of the other girls never see either of their parents, so many of whom are either drug addicts or alcoholics. Yet by law they can’t be adopted because their forever absent parents have not relinquished their rights to them. So the girls have truly made the best of things here at Birky where they have formed their own kind of family. They are like sisters, where the older ones help watch out for the younger ones, including little Aleksandra.”
Your help is needed to continue our work in Ukraine. Please help the Miles Jesu Missions today! Your tax-deductible gift or pledge of $100-a-month, $50-a-month, $25-a-month, or whatever your means allow, truly makes all the difference!
In Miles Jesu we take our benefactors seriously and pray for you and your loved ones each day at Mass and in our rosaries. This is our debt of gratitude, since the Miles Jesu Missions depend upon the Providence of God through people like you.”
