Dear Friend in Christ,
Olia, MJ, from the women’s community in Birky, Ukraine, tells us that they have started two new projects. “The first project is called Traveling with God which involves one-day trips for adults and children through the forest and the village. The goal is to spend a day with God studying the world He has given us. This journey combines the study of history, observation of plants and animals, and games combined with prayers, reflections, and fellowship.”
“The trip is designed for small groups of up to fifteen people. Last year we had two such trips. This year we are planning four trips with the shortest journey being 7.5 kilometers and the longest being 28 kilometers. One of the routes that we took with children and young adults last year was 18 kilometers. Along the way they listened to stories of two wooden churches and visited a bear shelter. The journey ended in the village where there is a church dedicated to the Mother of God. It is also a place connected with the history of our Church and the time when the Church was underground. Two men (a priest and a deacon) died at this place defending the Eucharist. In the evening we took the bus home.”
“The second project is called Weekend with God. The aim is to provide an opportunity for children to have fun on the weekends in parishes that are far from
the city. Children there often do not have the opportunity to attend classes and extracurricular activities due to poor transportation. In the first course we talked about how God created man and considered emotions, dreams, the purpose of life, and the talents that God has given us. All this was in the form of games, quests, competitions, etc. Meetings are held every Saturday in the parish. Children from our Girls’ Home help there as facilitators, taking photos, and helping to clean up. Last year we missed a number of weekends because of the quarantine. We hope to resume these meetings this year.”
Please help our Miles Jesu Missions today, such as our women’s community and girls’ home in Ukraine. Your sacrifice of a monthly pledge or a one-time gift truly makes all the difference. In Miles Jesu we pray for our benefactors daily with gratitude because the Miles Jesu Missions depend upon God’s help through people like you.
