Prayer hasn’t been my strong point for a while. But the Lord has heard my cry and given me some inspirations lately on how to keep in touch with Him and our Heavenly Mom. The main inspiration is that there is time.
For years my morning routine has included two big cups of coffee. And for years, I would read the news while drinking that coffee. But several months ago, the idea came to me that maybe I could drink my first cup of coffee while praying in the chapel and read the news during the second cup of coffee. It has been a big step forward! You see there was time, but I needed the eyes of my heart to see that time.
Another example concerns the Rosary. So often there is no time for the Rosary and it’s so easy to miss a day, even when one knows that our Heavenly Mom made such a huge splash in Fatima in order to get everyone’s attention and tell us, “Pray the Rosary every day.” So what happened was that the other day I needed to meet someone downtown, about an 18 minute walk from our house. In those 18 minutes, I managed to pray a Rosary (the intro prayers plus five full decades). There’s time.
Our Miles Jesu brother of happy memory, Fr. Paul Mary Vota, MJ, once told me that no matter how late it was in the evening and no matter how tired he was, he just could not in good conscience go to bed without praying his daily Rosary first, because it was so quick and easy.
There is time.
