Dear Friend in Christ,

“He is our bashed boy, beloved boy!” Fr. Thomas, MJ, tells us. “When he came last year to our Boys’ Home in Sirsi, India (let’s call him Kenny), the handsome lad with the endearing smile instantly won over the adults; but the fact that he was small for his age and quite fidgety put him at a disadvantage in front of the other boys at home and more so at school. From day one, the bullying began with taunts and then tears.

Not untypical of the homes of our other boys where there is a drunkard of a father, in Kenny’s there was violence, especially towards his mother. Kenny and his sister were not spared the drama and they, too, caught a fist or were shoved. When I heard of his history, it explained why he would cringe and flinch when we just wanted to pat him on the back.

We thought maybe he would need to see a psychologist, but as time has passed we have noticed a wonderful improvement in Kenny. As endearing as ever and less fidgety, he has even won over the other boys, especially through his stage performances in our frequent skits and plays. He is one of the stars. In an atmosphere of support and encouragement he will continue to grow and thrive.”

Your help is needed to continue our work in India. Please help our Miles Jesu Missions today. Your sacrifice of a monthly pledge or a one-time gift truly makes all the difference. In Miles Jesu we pray for our benefactors daily with gratitude because the Miles Jesu Missions depend upon God’s help through people like you.
