Dear Friend in Christ,
“Never lose hope!” says the happy old handicapped man at the soup kitchen in Rome. Our Miles Jesu women’s community in Rome dedicates itself to the relief of the poor in different ways. Zuzka, MJ, told me about that old man Angelo whom she sees twice a week at the Caritas soup kitchen. “Half of his face is all misshapen and scrunched up from an accident many years ago that had left him paralyzed. Angelo was abandoned by his family and lives in homeless shelters. But he’s always joyful and talks about hope and encourages people. He says, ‘Never lose hope because in the moment you least expect it, God will act in your favor. See, now I can walk!’”
Zuzka, who is a regular translator and news broadcaster for the Slovak edition of Radio Vaticana, says that, “in addition to helping out at the Caritas soup kitchen, members of our community also pick up food once a month from the local Food Bank, package it and then distribute it to 40 needy Italian and immigrant families in the area. And once weekly two of us volunteer as teacher’s aides at a nearby kindergarten and nursery school to help care for the children whose immigrant mothers are out working.”
Please help the Miles Jesu Missions today! Your sacrifice of a monthly pledge or a one-time gift truly makes all the difference. In Miles Jesu we pray for our benefactors daily with gratitude because the Miles Jesu Missions depend upon God’s help through people like you.
