Dear Friend in Christ,
One friend tells the other, “When I’m stressed, I eat candy.” The friend exclaims, “You eat candy all the time!” “I have a hard life,” responds the first friend, a regular at our Soup Kitchen in L’Viv, Ukraine.
Our Soup Kitchen started very simply many years ago and eventually moved to its present location in the center of the city. “Life brings us new surprises every day”, reports Zoriana Dnistrianska, MJ. “Now more people come to our Soup Kitchen. Not only the elderly and the homeless, but also those who have lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 quarantine. There are also those who are ‘stuck in Lviv,’ having originally come here for their jobs and now being unable to return home due to the lack of long-distance and suburban communication and travel. Transport is restricted in the city, so it is difficult for our staff and our visitors to get to the Soup Kitchen. Road repairs have also started near our Soup Kitchen which complicates the delivery of products for cooking. These repairs are expected to take at least two years to complete. Additionally, due to the general quarantine restrictions, people cannot sit down and eat in our dining area as before. They are required to come in, one by one, and take their food with them. Many just eat on the street. It now takes about two hours for everyone to receive their food. Under these circumstances and new challenges, we do our best to provide good and hearty meals for everyone who comes to us with an extra heaping of compassion, understanding and prayers for them.”
Please help our Miles Jesu Missions today, such as our Soup Kitchen in L’Viv, Ukraine. Your sacrifice of a large gift, a monthly pledge, or whatever you can give, truly makes all the difference. In Miles Jesu we pray for our benefactors daily at Mass and in our holy hours and rosaries because the Miles Jesu Missions depend upon God’s help through people like you.
