Human Trafficking is Real, and It’s Here

Dear Friend in Christ,

For an end to human trafficking and abortion. Several thousand people hear this prayer petition at Mass and/or read of it in the bulletin regularly at a large parish in Chicago. A nearby parish has recently started to make a similar prayer petition. Awareness and Prayer mixed together. Star of the Sea, www.SOSfortheNeedy.org (a non-denominational project of the Miles Jesu Missions) uses prayer petitions as one way to raise awareness of the exploitation of human beings through abortion and human trafficking.

Are we becoming numb to it all? Did you know that “pimps commonly sell minor girls for $400 an hour on America’s streets.” (Shared Hope Int’l). Could one of those girls be your daughter or niece, or a friend or classmate of your daughter or niece? It’s a booming business in U.S. cities and suburbs. “…Predators think they can make more by selling people; you can sell them over and over again…” (Meredith Bellencourt, World Affairs Council). Sex slavery is rampant worldwide and right here in the United States. What can you do about it? And then there’s the up to 1,000,000 boys and girls ripped out, crushed, terminated in the U.S. each year through abortion.
