Dear Friend in Christ,
Francesca, MJ, from Nigeria, came to Rome for a few months of formation and joined the Rome ladies’ community in the apostolate of feeding the poor and immigrants around St. Peter’s Basilica. She writes, “This was a great opportunity to experience the kindness and richness of God in humanity.”
Once each week the ladies share sandwiches with about 40 poor or homeless people from different parts of the world. It usually takes about an hour to distribute everything they bring with them. “It was a great moment for encounter with Jesus as we walked around looking for the people who needed our help and it was always a touching moment to me as each expressed their joy upon receiving a package of food. On one occasion I felt like I heard our Lord saying, ‘I was hungry and you gave me food.’ I never truly understood what it means to be homeless and hungry until I met these poor men and women. Sometimes I felt so badly because we did not have enough for all of them, like the day we finished and there were still ten men waiting for something but we had nothing left with us. At the time it was winter and many of them were homeless and very cold.”
Please help Miles Jesu today! Your sacrifice of a one-time gift or monthly pledge truly makes this apostolate possible. Just send your tax-deductible donation in the enclosed envelope. Don’t forget to include your prayer petitions as well because in Miles Jesu we take our benefactors seriously and pray with gratitude for you and your loved ones during our daily Masses, our holy hours, and rosaries because the Miles Jesu Missions depend upon the Providence of God through people like you.
May the Lord bless you through the sufferings of the poor that our Miles Jesu members are able to help through your gifts!
