Dear Friend in Christ,

“We have 32 boys here,” Ruslan, Director of our Bortniky Boys’ Home, in Ukraine tells us. “In 2014 a group of 25 university students from L’Viv visited us along with two professors. One of the professors was a nun, Sister Chrystofora. In the morning while the kids were in school I showed our guests around and told them about our work and life. We had lunch together with all the children, and in the afternoon the students spent time with the boys. Upon leaving Sr. Chrystofora said to me, ‘We are all so impressed with the children, this place and your work. And we all agree on one thing: this is not an orphanage; this is a big and good family!’ Other people have made similar remarks over the past few years. Our family atmosphere offers the best psychological help for our kids, the best medicine for their emotional wounds and the best answer to their needs.

“I know the boys are happy and want to stay here. A number of them on various occasions refused to leave us to be adopted or moved to another orphanage. One boy who was taken from us at the age of 12 to another orphanage, ran away from there and came back to us a year later on his own. He is still with us and just turned eighteen.”
