Dear Friend in Christ,
On the feast day of St. Thomas Aquinas (Patron of Catholic teachers), teachers in Catholic schools in the diocese of Awka, Nigeria, were celebrated. Lucia, MJ, headmistress of Miles Jesu’s St. Theresa Nursery and Primary School in Nimo, tells us, “A Mass was celebrated on that day for the intentions of all our teachers and their families. Under the guidance of Mary, MJ, the students composed a song in honor of the teachers and performed a Cultural Dance at the school to celebrate the occasion.”
At the beginning of 2020, St. Theresa Nursery and Primary School was moved from a dilapidated building which was non-conducive to learning, to a new site in a better location. The former location had Indian hemp smokers and dealers as very close neighbors and the rain would drip though the roof into some of the classrooms. “The new location is properly fenced around and will enhance our efforts to build morally sound and enlightened young persons for the future good of society”, Lucia writes. “The pupils excelled in their studies despite the poor conditions at the old site and we expect they will do even better at the new location. The children love the new environment and are grateful for the change. One child went back home after the first day at the new school and told her mother, ‘Mummy, the sisters bought a brand-new school for us!’ It is the Lord’s doing and it is marvellous in our eyes!”
Miles Jesu was only able to construct the new school building in Nigeria because of the generous support of benefactors like you. Please help our Miles Jesu Missions today! Your sacrifice of a monthly pledge or a one-time gift truly makes all the difference. In Miles Jesu we pray for our benefactors daily with gratitude because the Miles Jesu Missions depend upon God’s help through people like you.
