This past Spring Fr. Cahill, General Director of Miles Jesu, and I had planned to take a missionary trip to Africa. Our intention was to visit our men’s community members in Nigeria, as we had been unable to see them for several years due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions and violent attacks against Catholics in that country. Unfortunately, because of the difficult situation in Nigeria, we were unable to get visas to go there.
Our Miles Jesu Nigeria brothers were finally able to leave Nigeria, however, and met with us and our brothers from the India men’s community in a small country in the Indian Ocean called Seychelles. It was a great blessing!
We were able to reconnect and strengthen our brotherly bonds. We prayed together a lot, discussed community life, discussed our spiritual lives, discussed our apostolates and Miles Jesu charism, and recreated a lot. The people of Seychelles are wonderful. They are simple, humble, and speak Créole. And the fish there is fantastic!
Despite the obstacles in going to Nigeria, the Good Lord gave us a way around that, and much fruit came of it. Praise the Lord!
Now renewed, we are progressing forward in Nigeria and India. Our men’s community has a new member named Boniface in the House of Christian Formation (HCF) for vocation discernment (Welcome, Boniface!), and our Boys’ Home in Sirsi, India, now has 29 boys for this new school year (Welcome, boys!).
