Reunion Demonstrates the Impact of Doing God’s Work

“It had been six years since the last reunion of our former students here at the Udaya Nakshatra Boys’ Home in Sirsi for boys.” writes Ronald, MJ. “Cletus Rebello and Roshan Fernandez thought that it was time once again to renew our ties with each other. Having no idea how many would come, we sent invitations to all 200 of our former students from the past 20 years. Forty of the old “boys” showed up for the reunion on September 27 and 28, some having traveled great distances, enduring 24 hours by bus or train.”

“The event began with Holy Mass and a talk by Fr. Peter Pinto, pastor of our local parish. Afterwards, introductions were made and testimonies given by the “boys” on how their stay in the Udaya Nakshatra Boys’ Home had impacted their lives. One of our young men, Prakash, has founded his own bank with three branches, owing his success to his parent’s support, trust in God, hard work, and the things he learned in Udaya Nakshatra. He said now he is uplifting the lives of hundreds of farmers through his bank. After the talks, the young men played soccer and volleyball in the rain on our muddy grounds, just as they had done years before, bringing back many good memories. Later I explained the Miles Jesu Vinculum membership and all the benefits, both spiritual and social. Twenty of the young men signed the petition for membership.
