Teaching Generosity

Dear Friend in Christ,

“The road by the school was getting very bad with potholes at various places that are bad for all vehicles and our school bus,” Lucia Okonofua, headmistress of Miles Jesu St. Theresa Nursery and Primary School in Nimo, tells us. “During the Morning Assembly today, I discussed with our pupils our responsibility as good citizens to do our little bit to improve our country, starting with where we live and the immediate vicinity. We had some debris left from the work on the school hall and, when I suggested filling the potholes with the debris (which was already in bags), the children got very excited. The upper Basic classes got to work, squealing and full of energy while they carried bags of the debris from the school backyard to the potholes. They loved every bit of the exercise and were very happy to know that they, too, can do something for the good of the community.”
