Once a week the members of the community in Rome make lunches for the homeless who live near the Vatican. These lunches include sandwiches, juice, fruit, cookies and a hard boiled egg. We prepare and distribute 30 lunches a week. During this time we visit with the people, it is interesting to get to know them as they each have a unique history. We have discovered that many are not from Italy, we have met people from Poland, Sweden, the U.S.A., Germany… They are very kind and open to speak with us and are always grateful for the company and the food. Even though they are homeless, we met one man who holds a job, but he still requested food from us. Another man is a very talented artist, he never studied art, but learned by watching his friend, and he sells his pictures in St. Peter’s Square where he lives and works. Each of his pictures take him about one week to complete. We are grateful to have this opportunity to be able to reach out to more people.
Please remember them in your prayers.
