Dear Friend in Christ,
“A typical day starts for all the kids with 15 minutes of morning prayers in chapel, then breakfast, and then off to school. Just a stone’s throw from our Bortniky Boy’s Home residence there sits our own private school,” Ruslan Markiv, MJ, tells us, “where our kids from age seven to 15 study under the tutelage of professional
teachers. After that they go on to continue their education in high schools (two more years) and subsequently universities; or they go to career-specific colleges. Starting at age 15 many of them also elect to receive special hands-on training in our own workshop, metal shop and/or auto-repair shop. We have 28 kids altogether at Bortniky, ages seven to 17.
“Our school has better standards compared to the local state-run school, especially in subjects such as English, Art, Computers and Physical Training. We have native English-speakers giving English lessons to the kids (Peace Corps volunteers from the U.S.A. and volunteers from England). We also teach Math, German, History, Geography, Literature, Art and Religion. Plus, we give our kids a few extra hours of English and Computer lessons each week. But we need help to
keep our school going.”
Please help our Miles Jesu Missions today, such as our school at the Bortniky Boys’ Home in Ukraine. Your sacrifice of a large gift, a monthly pledge or whatever you can afford, truly makes all the difference. In Miles Jesu we pray for our benefactors daily at Mass and in our holy hours and rosaries because the Miles Jesu Missions depend upon God’s help through people like you.
