Miles Jesu priests are formed according to these precepts:
- they take vows of poverty, chastity and obedience
- priests are loyal to the Holy Father and the Magisterium
- priests are ordained to train and form lay men to be saints
- priests are formed with a deep devotion to Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament and to the Blessed Mother
- they are always available for confessions
These "Domus" members live in community and work outside the community in their professions using their consecrated life as a Catholic role model for those of their co-workers that may be estranged from the Church. (Paul Murphy was a great example of this type of Miles Jesu member.) The community life is a great support for people who have a vocation to continue in their profession, but have the desire to live the consecrated life.
Some of the men of Miles Jesu are asked, in a spirit of complete availability, to study for the priesthood and thus dedicate their lives to the care of souls in Miles Jesu communities and without. In the formation of a Miles Jesu priest, special emphasis is placed on transmitting an absolute loyalty to the Vicar of Christ, reverence to the Blessed Sacrament and a complete availability in hearing confessions.
