Night Litany of a Big City O God, our Father We plead before You, the Sacred Heart of Jesus , for all who tonight in this great city stand in the most need of Your merciful love and protection.On souls beset by temptation, On those who have fallen into sin On those who are given up to worldliness and forgetful of You, On those who are at this moment in danger of losing You forever, By Your Agony, Those who are tempting others, On those who are carrying on wicked trades and profiting by sin, On the victims of sin, On those indulging in sinful amusements, On all who are imperiling their souls by self-indulgence and luxury… On all frequenting haunts of sin, By Your Scourging, On all who are out tonight, the homeless, the weary, the starving, those tempted to suicide, the intemperate, On those who are out for sin, To those who are out to rescue others, For those who work at night, the police, railwaymen, firemen, those engaged on the stage, soldiers and sailors, sentries on duty, editors and journalists, For the sick and suffering and all who are enduring any agony of mind and body, For all undergoing operations, For the sleepless and lonely For those in anxiety, nervous or mental distress, For the insane, For those who attend upon the insane, For night nurses, For priests and doctors called out this night, By Your crown of thorns, For those who this night must suffer bereavement, For those for whom this will be their last night on earth, For those whom sudden death summons before Your Judgment, For those dying alone without priest or sacraments, For those dying rejecting the ministry of the Holy Church, On those dying unconscious, On those dying blind of their sin, On the souls of unbelievers and heretics who are near death, On those mothers upon whom abortions are performed, On those who perform or counsel abortions, On those whoa re trying to turn to You even in this their last hour, For those who are afraid to die, For dying priests, religious and all practicing Catholics, For the faithful departed, For ourselves in our last hour, By Your holy death, On behalf of those who have said no prayers today, let us say: On behalf of those who neglect to praise God and thank Him, let us say: The Divine Praises On behalf of those who blaspheme and neglect the Blessed Sacrament, let us say: |
