Path to Rome Goes Local

The Path to Rome International Conference Series has expanded from a single annual international conference to several national conferences as well. The following two articles tell of this year’s national conferences in both Spain and England.

Santiago De Compostela was the site of this year’s National Path to Rome Conference for Spain, July 31st through August 1st. This also marks the Jubilee year for the famous pilgrimage site of Santiago de Compostela.

Some of the speakers at this conference included: Timoteo Aytac Guzelmansur a Muslim convert who is currently a Catholic seminarian; Lucas Miguel-Angel Sotoo, a Japanese convert from Buddhism, who is now the President of the Gaudi Foundation; Aurora Roig, a former atheist, who became an Evangelical and then a Catholic; Antonio Carrera, a former Jehovah Witness, who is the Founder and President of the Association of Those Effected by Sects, along with these prominent speakers was included the Archbishop of Santiago, His Excellency Julian Barrio Barrio, who presided at the Mass on Sunday.

Along with the conference a special tour of Avila, Santiago de Compostela and Fatima was enjoyed by the pilgrims the week following the Conference. The National Conference in England will take place on the 25th of September and is a very important part of the Continuity Movement’s work. Its main purpose is to bring together converts, lifelong Catholics, and those still searching, in order to celebrate the mission that the Catholic Church, founded by Our Blessed Lord nearly 2000 years ago for the salvation of souls, is still fulfilling in the world today.

Msgr. Leonard will be speaking at this year’s National Path to Rome conference in London’s Westminster Cathedral. In attendance will be His Excellency Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Conner. Along with other speakers including Rt. Hon. John Gummer, MP, President of International Path to Rome Conference Series; Fr. Ian Ker, member of Miles Jesu, Stephen Ryan, MJ, Editor of the Continuity Journal; Paula de Francopan; Dwight Longnecker, Author and advisor to Continuity; Joanna Bogle, and John Pridmore.

The Continuity Movement was founded in England in October of 1999 as a fruit of the Path to Rome International Conference. The purpose of the Continuity Movement is the rediscovery of our Catholic roots and the renewal of the Catholic Faith in the British Isles.

At each of these conferences you will find the common thread that runs through all Path to Rome conferences, which is an unwavering loyalty to the teachings of the Church and the Vicar of Christ, along with a spirit of joy and peace which comes from knowing we are the Children of a loving and merciful God. Eucharistic adoration will play a key role in both conferences and Confessions will be available during each of them as well.

The article on the following page by the Very Rev. Father Alphonsus Duran explains very well what the Path to Rome is all about. For more information contact the Miles Jesu community closest to you.
