Miles Jesu Missions
Charitable Outreach

“While every exercise of the apostolate should be motivated by charity, some works by their very nature can become specially vivid expressions of this charity. Christ the Lord wanted these works to be signs of His messianic mission (cf. Matt. 11:4-5).

"...They should especially make missionary activity their own by giving material or even personal assistance. It is a duty and honor for Christians to return to God a part of the good things that they receive from Him.”
–Apostolatam Actuositatem ns. 8-10

MJ meeting in SalzburgFrom September 24-26th eight members of Miles Jesu gathered at the Spirituality Center where Fr. Barry Fischer resides in Salzburg, Austria. The meeting was organized in order to review the situation of all the children’s homes that are sponsored by Miles Jesu. Those responsible for the homes were invited and the participants hailed from India, Nigeria, Ukraine and Slovakia. The situation of each home was discussed in depth, experiences were interchanged and suggestions for improvements were made. All agreed that the gathering was very enriching and worth the effort.

All was not work, however, and the members had the opportunity to explore the sights of this beautiful city. The city was alive with activity as our meetings coincided with the celebration for the Patron Saints of Salzburg, Sts. Rupert and Virgil.

A Letter from India: Excelling in sports—about twenty of our boys go to J.M.J., a Catholic elementary/high school with 500 students—our boys not only excel individually, but carry all of the teams at the school. One of the teachers said there wouldn’t be a sports program without our boys.

Bringing Out the Best in Them: The Miles Jesu home for boys in Nigeria, started in January 2001, is doing tremendous work in changing society through caring for and training these less privileged boys. One important feature of the home is that it not only provides for the material needs of the boys but also trains them in other aspects of life including: spirituality, morality, work responsibility, and academics..

LucaMed Completes First Year: LucaMed, LTD, is celebrating its first year anniversary in Banska Bistrica, Slovakia. Founded by Dr. Pavel Žvak and Dr. Andre Malik, the private medical practice got on its feet only after a period of uncertainty and waiting on the part of these two doctors. Both spent several years of medical missionary work in Miles Jesu throughout Eastern Europe and in India and Nigeria...

A Letter from Ukraine: Two weeks ago we had a Lay Evangelization seminar for young people in Lviv. We spoke about prayer, lay apostolate, apologetics, chastity, and vocations. More than 30 young people came (as usual-60% girls and 40% boys!). most of them were university students or recent graduates. It went really well. Please pray for its lasting fruit.
